GUN-BASED INK

In early 2023, I came across a potent medium called Writing Ink Made from Guns, which consists of guns melted down in acid. A powerfully symbolic, even revolutionary medium, the ink inspired me to create a body of work about gun violence.

Themes that emerged include anti-Asian hatred, Black and Palestinian freedom, and the Korean War. I’ve also used cypress trees, which are internationally recognized symbols of mourning, and other plant forms to honor gun violence victims.
